W613S (40168-1-1-3-1-1) and W614S (40262-1-1-1-2-1-B) were developed from cycle 3 of the Wisconsin Quality Synthetic (WQS C3) population. These inbreds were initiated in winter nursery 2003-2004 by the UW Corn Silage Breeding program. They were generated after at least six generations of inbreeding, hybrid evaluation, and testing. The selection criteria utilized to generate these inbreds included high forage yield and good nutritional characteristics. This combination provides the opportunity to increase the potential milk yield productivity of ruminant animals that are fed with hybrids produced using these lines.
