The UW Corn Silage and Biofeedstock Breeding Program is working together with researchers from UW, Michigan State University and other collaborators to characterize naturally occurring genetic and phenotypic variation to understand approaches to improve biomass yield and composition in the context of sustainable production systems. The primary species under study in this project is maize which serves as a model for biofuel grasses as well as a potential source of feedstock for biofuel production.
